How to Hang a Pleated Fan in a Window

If you've purchased a beautiful pleated fan, also called a flag bunting, here's everything you need to know in order to properly hang them in a window.

Tools:

  • Pencil
  • Masking tape
  • Hooks
  • Drill (as needed)
  • Ladder (as needed)

Pleated fans, which unfold into a half circle and is typically hung in a window, can quickly give any space a patriotic or festive flair. Professional quality pleated bunting will come with a flat top edge with built in grommets for hanging.

While fairly quick and straight forward, hanging pleated bunting is best done with two people. When you are ready to hang your pleated bunting, open your window and temporarily place your bunting in your ideal spot with masking tape. Have a partner stand outside and tell you when appears centered and level.

With your pencil, mark the spots on the window through which your grommets need to attach, and remove the bunting. Screw in small hooks into the pencil marks. For this step, you may need to make small holes with an electric drill before you are able to insert any screws.

Guide the hooks through each grommet, and your bunting is now officially installed. After your holiday or festive occasion is complete, any other themed pleated fan can now be quickly installed in a matter minutes.
